用微粒爆破程序温柔清洁
As part of its cultural sponsorship programme, Kärcher cleaned the Church of the Redeemer in Jerusalem. In ten days the limestone façade of the Church of the Redeemer was freed from graffiti and layers of paint that had been used to cover dirt. The work was a continuation of a cleaning project that began last year when dust and other dirt was removed, and test areas created for the current cleaning work.
To ensure exceptionally gentle cleaning, Kärcher relyed on the low-pressure micro-particle blasting procedure with the help of a GS blasting gun. A fine aluminium silicate (40-90 μm) was used as the blasting agent. The Kärcher team cleaned around 75 m² of the exterior façade, allowing the treasured original substance of the Church of the Redeemer to shine forth once more. The Kärcher specialists were supported by local stone restoration experts. Dust formation as a result of the micro-particle blasting procedure posed a particular challenge in the city. To minimise the dust being whirled up, water was added during the cleaning process.
Commitment to cultural sponsorship
Last year’s cleaning project focused on removing salt deposits and dirt. This year's project fulfils Kärcher’s commitment in the context of cultural sponsorship in Jerusalem. The cleaning work is part of an extensive complete renovation project at the Church of the Redeemer.
The Church of the Redeemer
Built between 1893 and 1898 on the site of the crusader church of Santa Maria Latina, the Church of the Redeemer is a German evangelical church in Jerusalem's old town. Its tower is an unmistakeable feature of the city's silhouette.
